Meet the Ona: Oana Popescu
Another installment of our Meet the Ona series features our Senior HR Manager, Oana Popescu! Read on to learn more about why she joined Onapsis to help grow and cultivate our Romania site and what inspires her.
Share your story. What brought you to Onapsis?
Initially, there was the project of the new Romania office. I enjoy the beginning of new projects, the energy, enthusiasm and the chance to make your own mark in creating a new team and office. It’s something that motivates me and fills me with energy and enthusiasm.
Later, I met the remarkable Onapsis people who are incredibly friendly and skilled professionals. Each day, I learn new things and I am impressed by the company’s culture, the openness of the people and the sense of teamwork (the Onas tribe =D) where we all collaborate and support one another.
Who or what inspires you to do your best work?
People, again :)
Our work is meaningful when it positively influences people, creating a better environment for growth and development for all of us.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
I can say that the parenting books have had a significant impact on me and have changed the way I interact with people. Even as adults, we need recognition, validation, and the opportunity to grow in a safe environment.
But if I have to take a single piece of advice, it would be from my grandfather: “Don’t do to people what you don’t like to be done to you.”
What Ona value that resonates with you most and why (Respect, Integrity, Ownership, One Tribe, Hack It)?
I resonate most with Integrity because it’s part of my personality: being transparent, honest, and authentic. In my opinion, these are the fundamentals for building strong and meaningful relationships, and the first important relationship is with you. Therefore, the first person you need to be transparent, honest, and authentic with, is yourself.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Eating, reading, and spending time with my family.
What are you currently binge-watching or reading?
Hit & Run on Netflix
If you were stuck on a deserted island, what three things would you bring (no cell phone or computer)?
A book: Man’s Search for Meaning by Victor Frankl, a machete, and something to make a fire with.
