Meet Elke Bastian: Background & Roots

Hi, my name is Elke Bastian. I live in Saarbrücken, Germany, together with my partner and my 14-year-old daughter. We are located directly on the French border and also close to Luxembourg.

From a professional perspective, I am a product marketing enthusiast and enjoy collaborating with all other marketing departments and the product teams. I also love interacting with customers and partners. Perhaps it’s the variety and dynamics of my job that I love the most. It never gets boring, and working in the IT industry especially means that I always have to learn something new. Marketing has also evolved so much over the past few years that it is always exciting to try new formats and channels. My current role at Onapsis is Senior Product Marketing Manager for Control.

The Journey to Onapsis

In previous product marketing roles, I was responsible for business process optimization, process mining, digital transformation, and related topics. Two key focus areas were GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) and BPM (Business Process Management) software integration with SAP solutions.

I have always had a soft spot for GRC, and with the rising threat landscape of cyberattacks, I have developed a stronger interest in the field of cybersecurity. Since I have always felt a strong affinity for SAP solutions, the open position for Product Marketing for the Control product line felt like the perfect next step in my career.

Life Beyond the Office: What Drives You?

I’m very much into music. Be it listening, singing, dancing, DJing, or attending musicals and concerts. I could talk about this topic forever! I also enjoy sports and was a handball player for many years. Nowadays, I go running, attend yoga classes, or hit the gym. Additionally, I love nature and animals, whether it’s running in the forest or spending time with my two cats. These activities are essential to fuel my creativity and sustain a healthy work-life balance, providing the energy I need to excel in my job.

Bringing Personal Values to the Workplace

For me, a very precious value is being passionate about what I do. I truly enjoy working in teams and highly value the dynamic created when team members’ ideas mutually enrich and evolve, ultimately resulting in an outcome better than anticipated. I love seeing everyone approach a shared goal with genuine passion, and it makes me very happy if I can contribute to igniting that drive.

Which “Ona Value” Resonates Most?

However, I want to highlight the value of Respect, as I believe it is the foundation for creating the right work environment for all other values to thrive. I believe in the power of diversity and feel that all Onas, regardless of their background, deserve the same level of respect. This is exactly what I experience here every day.

In my first six months at Onapsis, I have deepened my expertise in the dynamic field of cybersecurity and embraced the continuous learning curve it requires. Moving forward, I am determined to leverage my experience and skills to drive the success of our exceptional Control product, helping it achieve the market recognition it truly deserves.
