SAP PO – User enumeration in AuthorizationList

Impact on Business

Successful attacks impact the confidentiality of the SAP Process Orchestration (PO) system. An unauthenticated attacker can enumerate valid usernames, which allows them to extend their knowledge of the target environment. Furthermore, identifying the presence of specific technical users can reveal whether certain services or applications are configured on the target system.

Vulnerability Details

A SOAP service within the user authorization administration application allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to enumerate SAP usernames. By sending specifically crafted requests to the service and analyzing the discrepancies in the server’s error responses, an attacker can reliably determine whether a given user exists on the target system.

Solution

SAP has released SAP Note 3428847 which provides patched versions of the affected components.

The patches can be downloaded from https://me.sap.com/notes/3428847.

Onapsis strongly recommends SAP customers to download the related security fixes and apply them to the affected components in order to reduce business risks.
