SAP Netweaver JAVA – Information Disclosure in DispatchServlet

Impact on Business

An unauthenticated attacker can retrieve a list of valid usernames from the affected SAP system. This information disclosure aids attackers in identifying valid accounts, which can be leveraged to facilitate further attacks such as brute-force attempts or social engineering campaigns, potentially compromising the system’s security.

Vulnerability Details

The DispatchServlet within the com.sap.nw.wpc.dispatcher.deploy application lacks proper authentication checks. This allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to query specific endpoints and retrieve sensitive information, specifically the enumeration of valid SAP usernames existing on the target system.

Solution

SAP has released SAP Note 3568307 which provides patched versions of the affected components.

The patches can be downloaded from https://me.sap.com/notes/3568307.

Onapsis strongly recommends SAP customers to download the related security fixes and apply them to the affected components in order to reduce business risks.
