SAP NetWeaver AS Java ILM Data Archiving Service Insecure Deserialization
Impact on Business
An authenticated attacker with high privileges can exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary operating system commands on the server. This could lead to a full compromise of the affected system, significantly impacting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the business application and its data.
Vulnerability Details
A Java deserialization vulnerability exists in the SAP Data Archiving Service (DAS). The vulnerability is located in the PutMethod functionality, which processes incoming HTTP requests. The application fails to properly validate serialized Java objects received in the request body before deserializing them. An authenticated attacker with specific privileges can send a malicious serialized object to the vulnerable endpoint, leading to the execution of arbitrary commands on the underlying operating system with the privileges of the SAP service user.
