SAP Bex – Arbitrary Modification of Favorites Nodes Data
Impact on Business
An authenticated attacker with low privileges could modify or access data belonging to other users within the SAP Business Explorer (BEx) environment. This could lead to unauthorized data manipulation or access to sensitive workbooks, potentially compromising the integrity and confidentiality of business reports and data.
Vulnerability Details
An RFC-enabled function module within the SAP Business Explorer (BEx) component does not perform sufficient authorization checks. This allows an authenticated user with low privileges to manipulate favorite node information belonging to other users. Specifically, an attacker can modify URLs within favorite nodes or change workbook identifiers to gain unauthorized access to other users’ workbooks.
Solution
SAP has released SAP Note 3488039 which provides patched versions of the affected components.
