Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) in SAP NetWeaver
Impact on Business
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to inject malicious JavaScript code into the application. This code is executed within the victim’s browser session when they interact with a crafted URL. This can lead to session hijacking, redirection to malicious websites, defacement of the trusted application, or the theft of sensitive information such as user credentials.
Vulnerability Details
A Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability exists in the SAP Basis component. The vulnerability is located within the CL_HTTP_EXT_ITS handler associated with the Internet Transaction Server (ITS). Due to insufficient neutralization of input during web page generation, an attacker can craft a malicious link that, when clicked by a victim, executes arbitrary JavaScript in the context of the vulnerable application.
