Information Exposure in SAP Bex Workbooks
Impact on Business
An authenticated attacker can gain unauthorized access to metadata regarding workbooks within the SAP BW system. This exposure of information allows for the enumeration of workbook names and IDs, which could be used to facilitate further targeted actions or information gathering.
Vulnerability Details
The RFC-enabled function module RSR_NET_INTERFACE in SAP NetWeaver ABAP does not sufficiently restrict access to workbook metadata. By providing a specifically crafted input to this function module, a low-privileged user with basic RFC permissions can retrieve a list of all workbook names and their corresponding unique identifiers (IDs) stored in the Business Warehouse (BW) system.
Solution
SAP has released SAP Note 3481588 which provides patched versions of the affected components.
The patches can be downloaded from https://me.sap.com/notes/3481588.
Onapsis strongly recommends SAP customers to download the related security fixes and apply them to the affected components in order to reduce business risks.
