SAP PO – User enumeration in GPWorkItemProvider
Impact on Business
An unauthenticated remote attacker can enumerate valid usernames on the target SAP system. This has a low impact on the confidentiality of the system, but it allows an attacker to gather information about existing users and potentially identify configured services or applications, which could be used to plan further attacks.
Vulnerability Details
A specific SOAP service within SAP Process Orchestration allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to determine whether a specific user exists on the system. By observing the differences in the application’s responses, an attacker can systematically enumerate valid usernames. This observable response discrepancy can lead to information disclosure regarding the system’s users and configuration.
Solution
SAP has released SAP Note 3425571 which provides patched versions of the affected components.
The patches can be downloaded from https://me.sap.com/notes/3425571.
Onapsis strongly recommends SAP customers to download the related security fixes and apply them to the affected components in order to reduce business risks.
