Information Disclosure in SAP Business Explorer (BEx)
Impact on Business
By exploiting this vulnerability, an authenticated attacker can gain unauthorized access to sensitive workplace information belonging to other users. This includes details such as favorite shortcuts, internal URLs, and workbook identifiers. Such information disclosure can be used to map internal business processes or facilitate more targeted subsequent attacks.
Vulnerability Details
An RFC-enabled function module within the SAP NetWeaver ABAP platform fails to perform adequate authorization checks. This allows a low-privileged user to remotely call the function and retrieve the complete workplace configuration of any other user in the system. The exposed data includes user menu structures, favorites, and associated metadata for various business objects.
Solution
SAP has released SAP Note 3488039 which provides patched versions of the affected components.

Onapsis strongly recommends SAP customers to download the related security fixes and apply them to the affected components in order to reduce business risks.
