Missing Authorization Check in SAP ST-PI
Impact on Business
A remote attacker can obtain sensitive information such as installed components, versions, patches, and user IDs from the application server. This information can be used to fingerprint the system and plan further attacks, impacting the confidentiality of the system.
Vulnerability Details
The remote-enabled function module /SDF/SWCM_GET_SYSTEM_INFO does not perform necessary authorization checks for an authenticated user. This allows a user with low privileges to retrieve technical information about the SAP system, including installed components, patch levels, and user identifiers.
Solution
SAP has released SAP Note 3547581 which provides patched versions of the affected components.
The patches can be downloaded from https://me.sap.com/notes/3547581.
Onapsis strongly recommends SAP customers to download the related security fixes and apply them to the affected components in order to reduce business risks.
