SAP SRM – XSS in SRM Live Auction
Impact on Business
A successful Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attack could allow an unauthenticated attacker to hijack user sessions or force victims to perform unintended actions within the SAP SRM system. This can lead to unauthorized access and potential manipulation of business data, impacting the confidentiality and integrity of the application.
Vulnerability Details
The SAP SRM Live Auction application does not sufficiently sanitize user-controlled input, specifically within certain HTTP headers. This deficiency leads to a reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability. If a victim is tricked into clicking a maliciously crafted link, arbitrary scripts can be executed in the context of the victim’s browser, potentially leading to session hijacking or unauthorized actions performed on behalf of the user.
Solution
SAP has released SAP Note 3578900 which provides patched versions of the affected components.
The patches can be downloaded from https://me.sap.com/notes/3578900.
Onapsis strongly recommends SAP customers to download the related security fixes and apply them to the affected components in order to reduce business risks.
